It’s been six months since I wrote a lament about God putting me on hold for the things I have been dreaming of. Six months of waiting for the light to go green. One, two, three … six months and I’ve somehow forgotten what my dream was.
But the plans of the Lord stand firm for ever, the purposes of his heart through all generations. Psalm 33:11
Couple of nights ago, I was reminded about how amazing God is. How keeping a prayer journal is evidently helpful in the future. A friend looked back on her’s and saw how in 10 years she is now where her heart really wanted to be. That was T-E-N long years of searching and continuous prayer.
So I looked back into mine.
March 2016, I wrote in my journal the numbers I needed. It seemed like our money was just enough for our food and paying the bills. I didn’t see the need to complain and ask for more. But see, as humans, we have desires and sometimes we overlook the process of achieving those desires and result to our own solutions. For me, it was a good case of: Ask-But-Maybe-If-It-Isn’t-For-You-Let-It-Go. I did not see the answer so I gave up praying about it.
But after 6 months, here I am, going back to this journal entry of mine and found out that each and every need has already been met!
As I grow in my Christian life, I have learned to fix my heart on prayers. You don’t just pray for things to be given, you also pray that your heart will learn to accept what has already been. I did not demand for God to give us XXXX amount but at least make ends meet.
What I failed to see was, God made everything lighter in his presence. And I am not just talking about the money, but the power He has over circumstances. He gave us strength and patience during this time of waiting. He gave us wisdom on how to handle my son’s asthma. He provided ways for us to afford homeschool materials. He delayed whatever fixing that was needed for our car.
And more importantly…
I am re launching Mrs. S today.
Isn’t God amazing?
Let me share with you this excerpt from the book that changed my prayer life. Bill Hybels wrote in Too Busy Not To Pray:
□ If the request is wrong, God says, “No.”
□ If the timing is wrong, God says, “Slow.”
□ If you are wrong, God says, “Grow.”
□ But if the request is right, the timing is right and you are right, God says, “Go!”
My friends, what is God telling you today?
To God be all the glory!
